69th Annual Meeting of the European Federation of Animal Science (EAAP), Dubrovnik, Croatia.

For decades, the Annual Meeting has hosted scientists and experts from the field of animal science, not only from Europe but also from other countries around the globe. The EAAP Congress provides insights into the latest research results from many areas of animal science. It is a unique opportunity for scientists and industry to meet and acquire new knowledge and to exchange experience. Carried out through many sessions, plenary meeting, a poster and exhibition presentations, and discussions about scientific achievements in the European and world livestock production, Annual Meeting gives an opportunity for the application of new ideas in practice. All these preferences make the EAAP one of the largest animal science congresses in the world.

This year edition invited more than 1000 participants from more than 50 countries. Slovakia was well represented at the meeting by members of the Faculty of Agrobiology and Food Resources and Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Sciences by three departments: Department of Animal Genetics and Breeding Biology, Department of Animal Nutrition as well as Department of Animal Physiology.

Department of Animal Genetics and Breeding Biology represented prof. Anna Trakovicka, doc. Radovan Kasarda and Dr. Nina Moravcikova, presenting alltogether 4 theatre presentation and 2 posters.

Department of Animal Nutrition and Department of Animal Physiology was represented by prof. Daniel Biro, prof. Adriana Kolesarova, doc. Branislav Galik, doc. Miroslav Juracek, Dr. Michal Rolinec and 3 junior scientists presenting 1 theatre and 2 posters.

As chairman of working group for Central and Eastern Europe, doc. Radovan Kasarda reported to the Council of EAAP achievements in year 2017. Very positively was accepted information about activities of WG towards involvement of young scientists into work of EAAP, where Dr. Ondrej Hanusovsky from Department of Animal Nutrition was accepted as member of working group Young Club as representative of CEE countries.

Besides rich official part of the Conference, organizers prepared an attractive and interesting programme of social events, as well as Technical tours to the practical farms with autochthonous breeds of cattle, sheep, goats and donkeys and all the beauties Croatia can offer.

This Annual Meeting was again prestigious opportunity to meet old friends and colleagues, present and find new partners for cooperation and opportunities.
