ASD – 2021 – Hungary – Gödöllő

The newest edition of the international symposium ASD 2021 (Animal Science Days) was held between 13th and 16th September 2021 in Gödöllő, Hungary. The event begun with a plenary session, and the first day was concluded by the meeting of the ASD Management Committee. The meeting consisted of four sessions, three presentation and one poster session. Prof. Kasarda and doc. Juhás chaired two separate scientific sessions, on Animal breeding and genetics, and One Health, respectively. A panel discussion was held after the session devoted to One Health, welfare and precise agriculture. Following the habit of previous years, the best presenters in each session were awarded at the end of the meeting. The poster Gene-based interaction analysis derived from the level of linkage disequilibrium in dogs, from authors R. Kasarda – N. Moravčíková – R. Židek – L. Vostrý – H. Vostrá-Vydrová – J. Vašek – D. Čílová – A. Trakovická was selected by the commission as one of the three best on the conference.

There were seven participating countries represented by the following universities: University of Ljubljana, Biotechnical Faculty, Zootechnical Department, Ljubljana, Slovenia; University of Zagreb, Faculty of Agricultural, Zagreb, Croatia; University J. J. Strossmayer, Faculty of Agricultural, Osijek, Croatia; Hungarian University of Agricultural and Life Sciences, Hungary; University of Padova, Padova, Italy; University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, Austria; Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra, Nitra, Slovakia; Czech University of Life Sciences, Prague, Czech Republic.

Attached to the Symposium itself two post-graduate courses were held on 13th and 14th September:

  • “Population Genetics and Genomics” on 13th September, given by prof. Ino Curik a prof. Luboš Vostrý
  • “Course in data visualization and filtration - Introduction to tidyverse in R” on 14th September, given by doc. Gábor Mészáros

As mentioned before, this important event which strengthens the international relations in science in Central Europe was actively attended by members of our team prof. Ing. Radovan Kasarda, PhD., doc. Ing. Peter Juhás, PhD., Ing. Nina Moravčíková, PhD., Ing. Renata Kolláthová, PhD., and Ing. Mária Mészárosová. We eagerly await which progressive scientific ideas and results we will hear about during the next, 30th ASD meeting in 2022, to be held in the beautiful Croatian city of Zadar.
