Meeting of the EIP-AGRI Focus Group for Bee health and sustainable beekeeping

by

Doc. Ing. Robert Chlebo, PhD., from the Faculty of Agrobiology and Food Resources, participated in the second working meeting of the EIP-AGRI Focus Group for Bee health and sustainable beekeeping from 8. to 9. October 2019.

The agricultural European Innovation Partnership (EIP-AGRI) has been launched in 2012 by European Commission. The main mission of EIP for Rural Development is in particular support Operational Groups and Innovation Support Services within a country or region.

More information and inspiration for the EIP program can be found in Slovak language on the National Rural Development Network website (http://www.nsrv.sk/?pl=67) or their FB profile. Focus Group members and position papers are published at the EIP-AGRI web page (https://ec.europa.eu/eip/agriculture/en/focus-groups/bee-health-and-sustainable-beekeeping).

During a two-day meeting in Bologna, Italy, members of the Specialized Group for Beekeeping discussed and finalized partial reports on 7 topics proposed at the Group's first May meeting in Uppsala, Sweden. These topics should be the basic inspiration for further challenges not only for practically oriented Operational groups, but also for further research in the European area.

As a part of the meeting, ongoing results of the Operational group called Nomadi-App, dealing with collecting data from hive environments using sensors and data transfer via the Internet, were presented. The participants had the opportunity to visit the CONAPI beekeeping cooperative where a round table was held, including a presentation of the BeeNet, NOPROBleMS and BeePathNet projects. The final report of the specialized group will be published on the EIP-AGRI website at the beginning of the next year.
