Scientific Conference of PhD. Students of FAFR and FBFS

Scientific Conference of PhD. Students was organised on the occasion of Science and Technology Week in the Slovak Republic at the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra. The Conference was held on November 7, 2017 in Nitra, Slovakia under the auspices of doc. Ing. Peter Ondrišík, PhD. – dean of the Faculty of Agrobiology and Food Resources (FAFR) and prof. Ing. Ján Tomáš, CSc. – dean of the Faculty of Biotechnology and Food Sciences (FBFS).

Its main aim was to provide a platform for presentation of research findings, exchange of experiences and knowledge sharing. Presentations focused to basic and applied science results in following topics:

  • Agrobiotechnologies
  • Animal production
  • Applied and molecular biology
  • Human nutrition
  • Multifunctional agriculture, environment and rural development
  • Plant production
  • Technology, quality and safety of raw materials and foodstuffs of animal origin
  • Technology, quality and safety of raw materials and foodstuffs of plant origin

The conference was attended by 15 PhD. Students of FAFR, 14 PhD. Students of FBFS, 1 PhD. student from Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra, 1 from University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava and 3 from the Slovak Academy of Sciences. Except of national PhD. students, the Conference was attended by 13 students from Poland (University of Rzeszow, University of Agriculture in Krakow, Warsaw University of Life Science and University of Science and Technology in Bydgoszcz), 7 from Uzbekistan (Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan and the National University of Uzbekistan), 2 from Italy (University of Molise), 4 from Hungary (University of Debrecen) and 1 from Serbia (University of Novi Sad). There were presented 53 interesting scientific results (34 national and 19 foreign). PhD. students had opportunity to publish abstracts in the Proceedings of Abstracts 2017, available on the conference website or in the form of scientific papers published in journals (Journal of Central European Agriculture, Acta Fytotechnica et Zootechnica, Agrochemistry, The Journal of Microbiology, Biotechnology and Food Sciences and the Slovak Journal of Food Sciences).

Committees hope, that the Conference provided a meeting place for creative discussion and new ideas for collaboration; and that the scientific programme has contributed to increasing our knowledge, improving our future work and building new friendships between PhD. students from different countries.
