7th PROJECT MEETING of AFISHE

On November 5-7, 2025, the 7th AFISHE project meeting – Development of Aquaculture and Fisheries Education for the Green Deal in Armenia and Ukraine: From Education to Ecology.

The meeting focused on disseminating the project results and evaluating the achievements in modernizing education and research in aquaculture and fisheries.

Participants were welcomed by ANAU Rector Hrachya Zakoyan and representatives of partner universities from Armenia, Ukraine, Portugal, Slovakia, and Croatia. During the meeting, the main outputs of each work package (WP2–WP7) were presented, including human resources development, infrastructure, quality, and dissemination of results.

The program also included the signing of agreements on double and/or joint degrees and a memorandum of understanding between ANAU and SNAU.

The second day was devoted to the presentation of the scientific activities of the Scientific Center for Hydroecology, Ichthyology and Zoology (SCZHE) of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Armenia (NAS RA) and a tour of its research facilities.

The final day of the meeting was devoted to discussions on the final report, financial management, and further steps in the implementation of the AFISHE project.

The AFISHE project contributes to strengthening professional capacities, modernizing educational programs, and linking research with practice in the field of aquaculture and fisheries in accordance with the principles of the European Green Deal. Partners from Slovakia, Croatia, and Portugal participated in capacity building for teaching and non-teaching staff from Ukraine and Armenia, the preparation of new study programs, and the innovation of existing curricula in accordance with EU standards.
