At the turn of June and July, another event within the GLISTEN project took place, this time in Diyarbakır, Turkey. The host of the workshop was Dicle University, which also coordinates the project.
In addition to our university, project partners include institutions from Italy (University of Torino) and Spain (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona). Diyarbakır, located on the Tigris River in Northern Mesopotamia, offered participants not only a rich professional program but also a glimpse into the unique history and culture of the region.
The workshop began with a plenary session, including welcome addresses and opening lectures at the university. The further program featured presentations, discussions, and knowledge exchange among students and professionals from partner universities.
Particularly noteworthy was the lecture by Prof. Dr. Claudio Forte from Torino, who addressed current approaches to assessing animal welfare and evaluating risks related to animal well-being. Another highlight was the presentation by Mgr. Dr. Eva Mixtajová, PhD., who introduced the key points of a forthcoming scientific review focused on greenhouse gas emissions especially methane and possibilities for its regulation in the context of precision livestock farming.
The program also included a tour of the Faculty of Agriculture research facilities and university farm. During the project steering committee meeting, participants evaluated the progress of project outcomes and discussed upcoming activities, including the final project meeting scheduled for autumn in Barcelona.
