Erasmus+ mobility of FAPZ staff for teaching/professional training at Akdeniz University in Turkey
26.07.2024The aim of the stay of the teaching staff of FAPZ was to exchange knowledge with a focus on the education of students in the field of biometrics, genetics, biodiversity and livestock breeding. The working meetings with colleagues from the Animal Breeding Institute at Akdeniz University is a continuation of a collaboration that started in 2022 when PHD. student Eymen Demir spent 2 semesters at the Institute of Nutrition and Genomics of FAPZ. Joint discussions were held on the position of higher education in society and innovations in the educational process both theoretically and practically, with emphasis on agricultural sustainability. The expert discussion focused on the exchange of experiences with particular emphasis on practical skills in the design of experiments and the use of statistical methods in the analysis of genome-wide data, data processing and testing, including data quality control and quantification of the degree of genomic variability and the determination of population-genetic diversity parameters. The residency also included a selection lecture by Assoc. Ing. Nina Moravčíková, PhD. on the topic " Livestock Biodiversity in Genomic Era. Colleagues from Akdeniz University repeated the invitation for students, PhD students and lecturers of our faculty to use ERASMUS+, which they see as a good way to motivate their own students and staff. Akdeniz University was founded in 1992, it consists of 24 faculties, 7 institutes, 3 schools, a conservatory, 12 professional schools and 57 applied research centres. It is a member of the European Association of Universities and has approximately 60,000 students studying at it.
