The 5th International Plant Phenotyping Symposium

by

In the period of October 2-6, 2018 the conference “The 5th International Plant Phenotyping Symposium” was held in Adelaide, Australia. The conference, in which participated more than 200 scientists from numerous countries, was organized under International Plant Phenotyping Network (IPPN) by the The Australian Plant Phenomics Facility (APPF), a network of national research infrastructure platforms that offer open access to state-of-the-art plant phenomics technologies, tools and expertise not available at this scale anywhere else in the world. At the conference, the SAU was represented by prof. Ing. Marián Brestič, CSc. and  doc. Ing. Marek Živčák, PhD. and Ing. Marek Kovár, PhD.  In addition to participants from the host country, the most numerous were the scientists from Great Britain, Germany, Japan, USA and other countries active in this scientific area. The conference held in Australian National Wine Center provided also a unique forum for scientific discussions and non-formal meetings with a great atmosphere. Thus, in addition to new knowledge, attendants took home new contacts and offers for international cooperation. As a part of the conference, we attended an excursion to the Plant Accelerator facility of APPF in Adelaide, Maricopa Agricultural Center, the research institute of USDA and University of Arizona, in which the excellent facilities for automated greenhouse phenotyping were presented.
